Safety Concerns for Officials

Female officials may face unwanted comments or advances from players, coaches, or spectators. This could range from inappropriate remarks to more serious forms of harassment. Although this can happen in any sport, lacrosse is still a male-dominated field at the professional and collegiate levels, and female officials can sometimes be subject to mistreatment or disrespect.

How to mitigate these concerns:

Female officials should be encouraged to connect with other female referees and mentors, allowing for a sense of solidarity and guidance in navigating any challenges that arise.
